“Inspiration in the shadows” – The Commandery (talk & ekphrastic poetry workshop)

Leena Batchelor, aka Pixie Muse Poetry & Prose, provides a talk on her time as Poet in Residence for the Commandery, and her exhibition “Space and Shadows” published as an anthology of poetry and photography. She will provide a workshop allowing visitors to write their own poems inspired by pictures.

Ekphrastic poetry is a poem that vividly describes a work of art, such as a painting, sculpture, or photograph.  The word “ekphrasis” comes from the Greek word meaning “description” or “interpretation”. 

Leena, aka Pixie Muse Poetry & Prose, was Worcestershire Poet Laureate 2020-21, and Poet in Residence for the Commandery 2020-22. She has 6 published collections, and is a spoken word artist, using her poetry to illuminate deep connections with the world and nature. A lover of road trips, people watching, and cats, she is also the owner of Worcester’s indie bookshop & event hub Script Haven.
