Ashley Giles MBE is a renowned former English first-class cricketer who played 54 test matches and 62 One Day Internationals for England. Having played the entirety of his 14-year-long career at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, he is now the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
His book THE KING OF SPAIN AND I is much more than a sporting memoir. It’s a deeply personal reflection on a life in cricket, one that lays bare the inner struggles of confidence and imposter syndrome, while charting the highs of rubbing shoulders with icons like Flintoff, Vaughan, Pietersen and Hussain.
Based on personal diaries and reflections spanning his early days at Warwickshire to his leadership roles within English cricket, the book is a tale of human endurance and reinvention that transcends the boundary ropes, and offers:
• A gripping inside account of the 2005 Ashes summer
• Rare insight into the challenges of elite sport and administration
• Honest stories of mental resilience, growth and redemption
• The unfiltered truth behind the headlines
